The document space is not a vault
The server can read the files in the document space: that is what makes antivirus scanning and previews possible. The encrypted vault, currently in design, aims for the opposite: encryption on your device that the service cannot remove.
Limitations
Files are encrypted in transit and at rest. The service can technically read their content, which makes antivirus scanning possible; for a document that only you should be able to read, see the encrypted vault.
