Official MCP server

Your AI backs up and finds your files in a Swiss cloud

Helvedrive speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard Claude, ChatGPT and agents use to reach tools. Paste one address, give consent once, and your assistant reads, searches, organises and backs up your documents, encrypted and hosted in Switzerland.

MCP server address

https://app.helvedrive.com/mcp

Streamable HTTP transport, OAuth 2.1 authorisation with PKCE. Nothing to install.

Connect your assistant

Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps)

  1. Settings, then Connectors, then “Add custom connector”.
  2. Paste the MCP server address and confirm.
  3. Claude opens Helvedrive: sign in, choose read only or read and write, authorise.

ChatGPT

  1. Settings, then Apps and connectors, then developer mode, then “Create”.
  2. Paste the MCP server address, OAuth authentication.
  3. Authorise access on the Helvedrive page that opens.

Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients

  1. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http helvedrive https://app.helvedrive.com/mcp
  2. Other clients: add a remote MCP server with the same address; OAuth authorisation happens in the browser.
  3. Without OAuth: use an API key (below).

Scripts, n8n, Make, in-house agents

  1. Create an API key in “My account”, read only or with write access.
  2. Send it in the Authorization: Bearer header of every request to the MCP address.
  3. Disconnect the key at any time: access stops at the next request.

What the assistant can do

list_workspaces
List your spaces (personal, organisations) and their storage use.
list_folder
Browse a folder, “My files” by default.
search_files
Find a file by name, anywhere.
read_file
Read a text, an image or a PDF (5 MB at most).
list_versions
See the successive versions of a file.
save_file
Save a document at a given path; an existing file gets a new version, nothing is overwritten.
create_folder
Create a folder and any missing parents.
move_item
Move or rename a file or folder.
trash_item
Move to the trash, recoverable for 30 days. Never permanent deletion.
create_share_link
Create a download link with expiry, limit and optional password.

Example requests

  • “Save these meeting notes to Helvedrive, folder Clients/Smith/2026.”
  • “Find the signed lease and summarise the termination clauses.”
  • “File September's invoices under Accounting/2026/09.”
  • “Prepare a download link valid for 7 days for the final report.”
  • “Save this project's code and documentation for the team.”

Security and control

  • Explicit consent on Helvedrive, showing the assistant's domain; read only when the assistant asks for nothing more.
  • One-hour access tokens, renewed by rotation; every connection appears in “My account” and can be cut in one click.
  • No access to end-to-end encrypted vaults, permanent deletion or account settings.
  • Data hosted in Switzerland (Infomaniak), encrypted at rest, versions kept, separate backups.
  • Every save creates a version: an AI mistake is undone by restoring the previous one.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Helvedrive MCP connector?

A Model Context Protocol server at https://app.helvedrive.com/mcp. It lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP-compatible agent list, read, search and back up files in Helvedrive, an encrypted Swiss cloud.

Do I need a subscription?

No. The free 1 GB account is enough to connect an assistant. The connector also works with organisation spaces.

Can the AI delete my files?

No. At most it can move an item to the trash, where it stays recoverable for 30 days, and every save keeps the previous versions.

Are my files used to train models?

Helvedrive does not pass your files to any AI provider. Only the content your assistant reads at your request reaches it, under that provider's terms.

How does a team work together with AI?

Each member connects their own assistant to their own account; files in an organisation space are shared according to each person's rights, and whatever the AI saves there is visible to the team, with version history.

And without OAuth?

Create an API key in “My account” and send it in the Authorization: Bearer header. It is revoked like a device.
